Planners Retreat, Sorrel River Ranch, Moab, Utah

February 2026

We’ve just returned from attending an invitation-only Planners Retreat at the Sorrel River Ranch. This Retreat was for Wedding Planners from Utah and Colorado, to come and explore the property and get familiar with their space and services.

What a fun-packed few days it was! The 240-acre property sits 18-miles East of Moab, a scenic drive along the Colorado River on Highway 128. It’s a 4-hour drive from both Denver and Salt Lake City. From the moment we turned onto the stunning property, the beauty of Southern Utah was abundant in every direction.

The property is a working farm with horses, (including a mini horse), donkeys, goats, pigs, chickens and a rooster. You can get apples at the front desk to feed any of the animals, all of which are super friendly, especially Penelope the pig!

We checked in about 3pm and our room included two double beds, a couch and coffee table, a small dining table and mini-fridge. On the dining table was an array of gifts that included a bag of gourmet popcorn, branded bandanas, granola bars, sparkling and still water, chips and salsa, and a stuffed fox toy for the baby. The bathroom had a shower and separate clawfoot tub and double sinks. The front porch faces the farm and front of the property, and had a double Adirondack rocker. The back porch had two single Adirondack rockers and faces the Colorado River with amazing views of the red rocks. Parking is across the grass from the room.

After our check-in, we had a Meet & Greet, which included a brief tour of the property, followed by a plated dinner, showcasing the menu offerings of the new Chef. There was a wedding on-site to coincide with the Planners Retreat. The Planners were allowed to attend the reception, which was a lot of fun, because Wedding Planners don’t usually get to have fun at the receptions they plan! We ended the evening around the campfire.

We began our second day with a delicious breakfast that included pancakes, avocado toast, eggs to order, bacon or sausage, fruit, toast, coffee, tea and orange juice. After breakfast

we took a guided tour of the property on UTV’s, which was a lot of fun. It included the Ranch House, which is a 5,500 sq ft private vacation home across Utah-12 from the main lodge and is also available for wedding guests and would be perfect for an intimate wedding.

The activities for the day included horseback riding or a UTV off-roading adventure. We chose the 1-1/2 hour guided horseback riding adventure beneath majestic mesas and along scenic ridgelines in red rock country. It was fantastic!

Once everyone returned from our chosen activities, we gathered for lunch at the Mercantile, with a buffet-style lunch, which included salmon, chicken, and salads.

After lunch, we took a shuttle into Moab for shopping in their many local art galleries, boutiques, and specialty stores. We made a stop at a local bakery, Bonjour Bakery & Cafe, for some coffee and pastries. Their chocolate cake was delicious.

Dinner that night was in the Tentipi. We had a 6-course curated menu, including a delicious palette cleanser and included an open-bar. There was a live vocal guitarist, and lots of socializing. The evening was topped off with another epic campfire and s’mores.

The final day was a farewell breakfast, which included their full menu options again. We said our goodbyes and all agreed that we would love to meet up at Sorrel again.
