Lisa and Chris love spending time outdoors, exploring new places, hiking and traveling. They actually met while camping during a trip their mutual friend put together, and since then, some of their biggest milestones have happened while they were adventuring (including getting engaged in a slot canyon)! So, when it came time to plan their wedding, they wanted to give their out-of-town guests a taste of what they loved about Utah. Red Butte Garden was the perfect location to do just that. Their vision was simple: a day that reflected their personalities and love for nature. I had the pleasure of helping them bring this vision to life.

A Magical First Look

They started the day with a quiet first look in the Water Pavilion-the perfect little tucked-away spot within the garden for the two to share in a private moment. We love a private first look, it’s a simple yet beautiful moment without distractions that helps set the tone for the rest of the day. We worked closely with the photographer to build this moment into the schedule, allowing them enough time to savor it without feeling rushed. Watching their joy as they saw each other for the first time made all the planning and coordination worth it.

Details

Lisa & Chris wanted to make their wedding feel very personal, so they brought their love of adventure into the wedding details by naming each table after a national park they had visited, with framed photos of them at each location! It’s these small, little touches that give guests a glimpse into the couple’s journey and make the event uniquely theirs.

A Sunset to Remember

As the evening approached, we started heading to the Water Conservation Garden for sunset photos. Golden light was perfect, giving warmness to this beautiful garden. It was the perfect setting for Lisa and Chris to take a breath, step away from the crowd, and soak in the beauty around them. Moments like this are what make the day unforgettable. As a planner, I make sure to carve out these pockets of time, allowing couples to be present and take it all in. (Sunset photos are some of my favorites to see from the photographers!)

A Day to Cherish

We ended the night with one last song, a song that Lisa & Chris used to dance to with all their friends. As this song was played, Lisa and Chris were surrounded by their friends, dancing and rejoicing in their celebration. It was a joy-filled end to a day that was all about love, laughter, and making memories.

Why Having a Wedding Planner Matters

Lisa and Chris’s wedding was a perfect day reflecting their journey together. It wasn’t just about choosing a venue and vendors; it was about creating a day that felt like them. From managing the summer heat to coordinating with photographers for those perfect sunset shots, my role was to handle all the moving parts so they could focus on celebrating their love with the people who matter most. To me, this is what being a planner entails: taking care of all the moving parts so Lisa and Chris could focus on what really mattered-celebrating their love with the people they care about.

Review

Ruby was the best investment we made in our wedding; our day would not have gone as perfectly as it did without her. We love how fun Ruby is as a person, how all her experience ensured nothing went overlooked, and how she had vendor ideas for us whenever we needed them.
